The Network Client Live Video Download Calculator helps you determine how much data is moved from an Intellex Video Server to a Network Client over a network link. The amount of bandwidth consumed by a Live Video download is affected by the number of camera(s) attached to the Intellex Video Server, the selected Network Client display mode and the number of Network Client camera(s) displayed. Additionally, the bandwidth consumption is also affected by the user selected Video Mode, Sensitivity and Resolution settings.
Video Mode: PAL or NTSC
Resolution: Select the Resolution Setting. Bandwidth consumption will increase as you make selections from Extended to High.
Sensitivity: Select the Sensitivity Setting. Selecting a High sensitivity setting will increase the amount of Bandwidth consumed.
Communications Link: Select Type of Communication Link.
Bandwidth: Select the appropriate Bandwidth setting for the selected Communications Link type.
Bandwidth Utilization: Many system administrators don't want you to consume the entire bandwidth of a link, and may even restrict a segment's performance. This field allows you to "degrade" the performance of the link accordingly.
Intellex Camera(s): Select the number of camera(s) attached to the Intellex Video Server.
NC Display Mode: Select the Network Client Display Mode. (Full, 2 X 2, 3 X 3, 4 X 4)
NC Camera(s): Select the number of camera(s) that will be displayed in the selected Network Client Display Mode. (i.e. You might select 3 camera(s) to be displayed in the 2 X 2 display mode.)
Number Of Links: Select the number of Intellex-Network Client connections that might be active on the same LAN. (Range 1 –5)
NOTE: There is no error checking in this version of the Live Download Calculator to make sure you are not selecting more cameras than a Network Client can display at any of the display modes. (i.e. 16 Cameras to be display in the 2 X 2 mode).
Comm. Link Bandwidth: the maximum number of the selected communication link in Bytes per Second (Bps) This does not take into account the effective rate vs. the published link rate.
Total Bandwidth Required: the calculated number Bytes per Second (Bps) a Intellex –Network Client Live video download theoretically could consume for the selected Video standard (NTSC or PAL), Motion Sensitivity (High/Normal), Video Quality (High/Normal/Extended) and Display Mode Resolution ( Full , 2 X 2, 3 X 3, 4 X 4) setting.
Available Bandwidth: the number of Bytes per Second free after the bandwidth required by the Network Client Live Video download has been subtracted from the Comm. Link Bandwidth value.
Number of Links: the number of Intellex to Network Client connections on which the Total Bandwidth Required calculation is based.
GREAT! The rate at which bandwidth is consumed is affected by many of the factors outlined above as well as the activity level of the video content supplied to the Intellex Video Server. This calculator uses a look up table of measurements collected with a high activity video source input to the Intellex Video Server side. The measured rate of bandwidth consumed by Intellex should be considerably lower than the values displayed in the Calculator.
